Two rivals of seasons past meet on Friday night when the Swans host the Hawks at the SCG. Neither side is in the top eight at present and with both teams struggling for consistency this season, this match will be crucial to their finals hopes. The Hawks come into this one on the back of losses to the Lions and Bombers, with their forward line a cause for concern.

Sharp shooter Jack Gunston was swung back last week and with Mitchell Lewis and Jarryd Roughead playing in the VFL, the brown and gold struggled for a marking option inside 50. Sydney’s 45-point win against the Eagles was their most impressive of the season, with their progress halted by an untimely bye.

Hawthorn has an outstanding record at the SCG in recent times, winning six of its past seven games played at the grand old lady. The last five matches contested between the two sides have been decided by 10 points or less, and there appears to be little to split these sides on Friday night. The Wolf is once again backing a close one that could go either way, but the Swans get the slight edge based on recent form.
