Buddy needed five but finished with a single goal however that didn’t stop the Swans from notching their first win of the 2022 AFL season against rivals GWS in round 1.

They had less disposals, less centre clearances and more turnovers than their cross town rivals but managed a comfortable 20 points win at Accor Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Cats led from start to finish and never looked in doubt against Essendon with long time stars Patrick Dangerfield and Tom Hawkins running riot at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

The over hyped Bombers were never in the contest and were beaten to the tune of 66 points after the final siren sounded.

Tyson Stengle added plenty of pace and flair inside the forward 50 on debut for the Cats, ending with three goals and his role was made even more crucial when Jeremy Cameron was ruled out of the game after a big clash in the first quarter.

This will be a cracking contest between two genuine contenders in 2022 and while I’m struggling to find a head to head winner I think this will be a close one.
