Hawthorn Hawks vs Fremantle Dockers Preview
Did much happen at Hawthorn this week?
The first leg of the Clarko farewell tour gets underway in Launceston on Saturday afternoon as the Hawks take on Freo.
All the attention has been on Hawthorn during the week, but let’s not forget that Fremantle blew the perfect opportunity to sneak into the top eight against Carlton at the MCG last week.
Perhaps it’s ladder position that has the Dockers as $1.80 favorites, but a golden rule of footy tipping is to never back against the Hawks ($2.02) in Launceston.
Between the MCG and Tassie, Hawthorn has won each of its last 13 home matches against Fremantle.
The only match Fremantle has ever won in Launceston wasn’t even against Hawthorn and was only classified as a win after they appealed to the AFL Commission after the game in the infamous sirengate affair of 2006.
Hawthorn was easily beaten by Port during the week, but given all the talk about the Clarko/Mitchell transition plan and the game being played in Launceston – all roads point to a Hawks victory and Freo blowing finals chances.
Take the Hawks 1-39.
