There’s plenty on the final match of round 16 when the Giants host the Lions. GWS currently sit in fourth spot on the ladder, with the Lions close by in fifth. A win for either side will put them in the top four at the end of the round and give them a huge confidence boost with the end of the season in sight. GWS will be devastated to lose to the Bombers in round 15 after holding a 19 point lead late in the final term. The Lions pulled away from the Demons in the second half after a see-sawing first two quarters.
The Giants have had their way with Brisbane in recent times, winning six of their eight all time meetings and the past five. Brisbane is winless at Spotless Stadium from two tries, losing by an average of 32 points. In two meetings last season, the Giants beat Brisbane by 34 points in round 6 and 27 points in round 14.
GWS is 9-5 against the spread this season and undefeated at home, winning all four of their games at Spotless Stadium. The Lions have picked up three away wins this season, including in their last trip away from the Gabba when they crushed the Saints by 56 points. They will give a good account of themselves on Sunday night, but are 1-1 against the current top four this season, with that win coming in the first round of season against an undermanned Eagles side. The Wolf doesn’t think they’re top four material just yet and GWS are the way to go in this one.
