The Gold Coast Suns are in free fall after losing their past 10 games and host a Richmond side with eyes on a top four spot by season’s end. The Suns dropped their 11th game of the season last week to the Swans in Sydney by 7 goals. The Tigers were below their best in the first half against St Kilda, falling behind by as 23 points midway through the second term, but kicked away in the second half to win by 33 points.

Richmond has a tough month ahead of it, with games against the Giants, Power and Pies to follow this road game to Metricon Stadium. Richmond has taken four of its past five against the Suns, including a 74 point win in their only meeting a season ago. Tom Lynch returns to the club where he was captain a season ago for the first time and is sure to receive a hostile reception from the home fans and his ex-team mates.

It’s no surprise the Suns are languishing at the bottom of the table. They are last in the league for goals, disposals, inside 50s and points scored. The Wolf was hot on the Suns earlier this season, but it’s near impossible to make a case for them now given their dire run. They are more than 5 goal underdogs in this one, but they have only lost by that margin or more on one occasion at home this season and that was against the Brisbane Lions. Again a far from perfect Tigers side, perhaps this is a match where they can keep it close, much like they did against the Cats a few weeks back.
