It’s rare that Geelong loses at Geelong, it’s, even more, rarer that they lose two in a row at the venue – that last happened back in 2015, however, the back to back losses consisted of a game in Round 4 against the Kangaroos and Round 12 against Melbourne of that season – a fair gap.

The last time Geelong lost two consecutive games at Kardinina Park in a fortnight was in 2006, losing to Richmond in Round 9 followed by eventual premiers of that year West Coast in Round 10.
