Fremantle Dockers vs Hawthorn Hawks Preview

Two straight wins over a couple of top-four teams will do great things for a club.

The Dockers are the hottest team in the competition right now after knocking off Melbourne and Brisbane in consecutive weeks, and they’ll now set their sights on a feisty Hawthorn side looking to measure up against a serious flag contender.

Hawthorn played one of the games of the year last week against Collingwood, only to fall four points short in another encouraging performance under Sam Mitchell.

The Hawks have proven on several occasions this year that they are capable of scoring in a hurry, but their recent track record against the Dockers does make for grim reading.

Hawthorn has lost three straight to Justin Longmuir’s side, while they also haven’t defeated the Dockers in Perth since 2018.

The -31.5 point line in favour of Freo does look to be a lot for a team that doesn’t score a ton of points, but as we’ve seen in back to back games against the Dees and the Lions, the Dockers only need a quarter to do plenty of damage on the scoresheet.

You can’t discount Hawthorn’s dangerous forward line keeping this close, but after failing to turn up in their most recent road trip to Darwin, the Dockers feel a much safer bet.
