Carlton Blues vs Port Adelaide Power Preview
We’re about to learn plenty about Port and Carlton on Sunday afternoon.
The previously undefeated Blues were far from their best last week against the Gold Coast, and the writing was on the wall early as they struggled to win the clearances whilst most of the game was played in the Suns’ forward half.
Making matters worse, superstar midfielder and previous Brownlow favourite Patrick Cripps has also suffered a hamstring injury that will see him miss the next month of footy.
The blow isn’t the end of the world for Carlton, but it remains to be seen how the Blues go about their business without their skipper on the field.
As for Port, this is basically it.
The Power are already facing an uphill battle after starting 0-4, while Ollie Wines’ recent health scare couldn’t have come at a worse time on the back of last week’s goalless first half against Melbourne.
On the plus side, the Power destroyed Carlton 140-45 when they played last August – their sixth straight win over the Blues dating back to 2017.
Also working in Port’s favour (maybe) is the fact this game is being played in Melbourne.
The Power have played to a 3-1 record as the away dog over the last 12 months, and it might help take some of the pressure off getting away from Adelaide for a week.
