The Blues got themselves off the bottom of the pile with a gutsy and unexpected win against the Dockers last round. Can they notch their fourth win of the season against the lowly Demons on Sunday and make it two on the trot? The Dees dismal season continues, with just four wins leaving them languishing in 16th spot. They were fortunate the Lions wasted countless opportunities to hit the scoreboard in their 33-point win in Brisbane last Sunday, with the home team kicking away in the final term booting five goals to two.
This is the first meeting between these bottom four sides this season, with the Dees spanking Carlton by 109 points in round 9 last season. This is a far different Melbourne side to the one that took the field that day though and their woes deepen this week, with Max Gawn coming off against the Lions with a rolled ankle and unlikely to line up on Sunday.
The Blues have certainly had an energy about them since sacking Brendan Bolton, scoring two wins and losing to the Dogs by just 3 points. The Wolf thinks they should be much shorter than they are against a Melbourne side that has hardly dazzled in 2019. They are just 5-9 against the handicap this season and start this match as rare favourites, at a ground where they are 2-6 straight up this season. The Blues and the points has been money the past fortnight, so that’s the lean in this one.
