The last-placed Jets have won just two games – back-to-back in November – and have picked up just two points from their last eight games. They held Western United to a scoreless draw at home last weekend, only the second time since the start of November that Newcastle have conceded less than two goals.
The Mariners have managed to pick up wins at regular intervals, but they are aiming to avoid a fourth straight loss here. The two-time spooners have gone down to Western United (3-0) away, and Brisbane (1-0) and WSW (3-1) at home in disappointing fashion in their last three.
The Jets have won five of their last seven against Central Coast. But the Mariners snatched a 3-2 win late last season in Newcastle, while the clubs played out a 1-all draw in Gosford in Week 2 of this season.
There’s little to suggest either side has an immediate form reversal in them, but the Mariners are the clear value pick as whopping $5 outsiders.
