After six consecutive wins, the Glory have played out back-to-back draws against the Melbourne clubs. They got out of jail against the Victory at home last week, with Nicholas D’Agostino’s 90th-minute strike snatching a 2-all result.
The Phoenix – fourth and just two points behind the Glory – have lost just one of their last 12 games. They responded to a 1-0 defeat in Brisbane with a 2-1 home win over Newcastle, before enjoying the bye in Week 17. Ulises Davila bagged the match-winner against the Jets, his 10th goal of the season.
The Glory have won eight and drawn two of their last 12 against the Phoenix, and have won the teams’ last three encounters in a row. The Phoenix’s two visits to Perth last season resulted in 3-0 and 5-0 defeats, while the Glory picked up a 2-1 victory in Wellington in the early weeks of this campaign.
But the Glory have looked slightly vulnerable in the past fortnight and the Phoenix look a great chance of at least earning a share of the spoils.
