We may be getting a little bit carried away with the successful start to the Australian Open from our home grown stars, so much so that online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has opened a market on who will be the next to win a Grand Slam.

With Nick Kyrgios a short $1.14 to win his third round match, he’s also a $2.50 favourite to be our next Aussie Grand Slam Champion while it’s odds on that we’ll have an Aussie Champ again within the next 5 years at odds of $1.67.

Former golden boy Bernard Tomic, finds himself at $4.50 alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis to get there before Kyrgios, with our last great player Lleyton Hewitt on the outside courts in the betting at $81 to reclaim those glory days.

Back to now and the all Aussie matchup between Tomic and Sam Groth guarantees at least one home representative in round four, Tomic paying $1.33 to advance with Groth a $3.36 shot.

“It’s been a dark few years for Aussie tennis with Tomic failing to fulfil his potential but with young guns Kyrgios and Kokkinakis emerging, the odds are very much in favour of Australian tennis being front and centre once again,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Will Byrne.
