Where: Brisbane Stadium, Brisbane
Australia have cruised through to yet another World Cup semi-final but few would have predicted Fiji as their opponents this weekend.
The Bati were superb in their 4-2 win over an insipid New Zealand in Wellington with a pair of Apisai Koroisau penalties enough to secure passage after just the second tryless match in WC history.
The raw emotion was there for all to see at the final whistle with more than one player moved to tears at the enormity of the result.
The Kangaroos, meanwhile, flexed their muscles with a 46-0 rout over a disappointing Samoa to remain firmly on track to defend their title.
In humid conditions, the hosts received great service from backrowers Boyd Cordner and Matt Gillett while Billy Slater was as electric as ever at the back.
Winger Valentine Holmes also etched his own slice of history with a five try haul and will once again look to get on the scoresheet in Brisbane.
Fiji deserve enormous respect for what they have achieved so far and there’s little chance of the Australians taking them lightly.
It might be hard for Jarryd Hayne’s troops to get up again though and the Roos can cover this handicap in the back end of the game and book another berth in the decider.
Australia at $1.03
Fiji at $13.00
Tip: Australia at $1.03
Line tip: Australia -22.5
