Scott will reclaim the top spot with victory in the year’s final major and punters are rallying behind the Australian, resulting in McIlroy’s odds drifting from $6 to $6.25 at Sportingbet.

“We’ve taken nearly twice as many bets for Scott than what we have for McIlroy,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.

“Scott has finished top ten in three key lead-up events and if he can get his flat stick to fire, he’ll no doubt be there on Sunday.”

Scott’s compatriot, Marc Leishman, has been the best backed long shot of the field, firming from $81 into $41 at Sportingbet.

Support has also come for Geoff Ogilvy at $126 following his drought breaking win in the Barracuda Championship.

Tiger Woods is rated a $34 chance.
