Jonathan Wells’ 68* off 46 led the Strikers to 4/174 on the Gold Coast last month. The Stars fell just five runs short after Glenn Maxwell (43 off 25) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (20* off 8) gave them a late sniff. Peter Siddle (3/24) and Rashid Khan (1/23) played a key role in restricting the Stars.

The 6-4-1 Strikers are third on the BBL ladder after winning their last two matches against the Heat (10 wickets) and Hurricanes (10 runs).

Phil Salt (67* off 38) and Travis Head (79 off 40) top-scored in those victories respectively – a tremendous sign for Adelaide. The Strikers also get the brilliant Alex Carey back from ODI duty for this clash.

The 10-2 Stars’ eight-game winning streak came to an end on Monday. Despite a another sizzling knock from Marcus Stoinis (62 off 37), they went down to the Sixers by 21 runs in a rain-shortened affair.

Stoinis (585 runs at 73.12) leads the BBL run charts by a mile. He has top-scored for the Stars in six of their 12 games. Middle-order gun Maxwell (353 runs at 58.83) in sixth in the competition’s run-scorer standings.

Adam Zampa and Peter Handscomb return after touring India with the Australian side.

The in-form Strikers are enticing $2.10 underdogs here. Meanwhile, after his match-winning innings in Hobart, Test star Head shapes as a handy Top Batsman option for the hosts. The short-priced Stoinis is the obvious pick on the Stars’ side of the fence.
