New South Wales been installed as favourites to begin their State of Origin title defence with a win in this year’s series opener at ANZ Stadium, however online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has posted them as outsiders to win the series.
The Blues are $1.75 for the May 27 clash but punters north of the border will no doubt see Queensland as great value as the $2.05 outsiders.
The Maroons are receiving 2.0 points start in handicap betting.
Despite not playing in front of their home crowd at Suncorp Stadium until game 3, Queensland are $1.75 to regain the Origin shield while the Blues are $2.05 to make it two in a row.
“With the monkey off the back plus home ground advantage, we had to open New South Wales as favourites for game one, but with plenty of crowd support for Queensland in game two at the MCG, and a possible decider being staged at Suncorp, the Maroons will take some beating as far as the series is concerned,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Christian Jantzen.
