Peter and Paul Snowden look to have unearthed a superstar in the classy colt Capitalist ($1.70). Ever since he debuted with an emphatic win in the Breeders Plate at Randwick in October, connections have aimed him at this race and he looks set to peak on the day. The colt has drawn well in gate two and with the speed on should run over the top of them.
His stablemate Niccolance ($10) is on the next line of betting and although he was beaten emphatically by Capitalist last start, looks the likely danger. Queen of the Turf Gai Waterhouse has won this race four times and saddles up the untapped Slumber Party ($16). This filly looked the logical danger to Capitalist until connections drew barrier 20 and she faces a tough task from the car park.
Best of the locals appears to be the Kelso Wood-trained Nikitas. He hasn’t done much wrong in the lead up and he is currently at the ($11) quote.
