It seems punters aren’t put off by Gary Ablett’s season ending injury, with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au reporting that over 25% of all bets placed on the Brownlow since his announcement have been on the Gold Coast champion.

Lapping up his big odds of $8.00, he has been the best backed player over the last 24 hours despite the fact he won’t play another game all year.

Despite now being favourite, punters are steering clear of Scott Pendlebury at $3.00, instead looking at Josh Kennedy who has had the second most bets at $6.00.

Even young Bulldog Tom Liberatore isn’t being ignored, with punters keen on his odds of $26.

“Clearly the punters think Gary has already done enough and are happy to take the $8.00 and sit back and hope he can hang on. However if Pendlebury has a best on ground this weekend, that could change very quickly,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
