Punters who backed Garry Ablett to win this year’s Brownlow with sportsbet.com.au can kick up their feet, with the online bookie promising to refund bets on the legend if he doesn’t end up winning Charlie on Brownlow night.
Pies ball magnet Scott Pendlebury is now the favourite at $3.00, with Ablett still in with a chance, priced at $8.00 to be the third favourite overall behind Pendlebury and Josh Kennedy ($6.00). He was $1.60 prior to his injury.
The payout will cost Sportsbet over $88,000 should Ablett lose.
“We will be happy to take the hit on this one because let’s be honest, we think he is in front at the moment and it wouldn’t really be fair on those who backed him months ago. However, he is still a chance to hang on at $8.00 so it will be a real test to see if he can hold out the likes of Pendlebury,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
