The odds are firming that US supermaxi Comanche will start tomorrow’s Rolex Sydney to Hobart yacht race as the line honours favourite.
Sportingbet.com.au originally installed Comanche as a $3.25 second favourite, but a wave of support has forced the bookie to slash Wild Oats XI’s main rival into $2.20.
As a result of the heavy backing for Comanche, Wild Oats XI’s odds have drifted from $1.80 to $2.10 with Sportingbet.
“Comanche is attracting three times the money than Wild Oats XI,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.
“There’s been a strong tip around for Comanche for a few weeks now and the support from punters really suggests that she is the one to beat.”
“It looks increasingly likely Comanche will start the race as favourite.”
Perpetual Loyal is next in betting for line honours at $7.50, followed by Raggamuffin 100 at $12 before a big gap to Rio 100 at $51.
One Sails Racing is the $10 favourite to be the Handicap winner, in front of Blackjack ($11), Ichi Ban ($11) and Wild Rose ($11).
In betting on which boat will be first through Sydney Heads, Comanche and Wild Oats XI are $2.10 equal favourites ahead of Perpetual Loyal at $8.
